The NRT patch and bupropion are limited to 12 weeks of treatment, and varenicline is limited to 24 weeks. Members are covered for one quit attempt per year, and co-payments of $3 are required for medications.

Kansas State Employee Services, through the Healthy Lifestyle Smoking Cessation program, covers:

Phone Counseling
This plan covers up to $300 per year for cessation medications. Co-payments of 10 or 20 percent are required. To receive medications, members must call a Health Coach at 1-888-275-1205 to enroll in the program.

Private Insurance Coverage
This state does not require private health insurance plans to cover cessation treatments. Cessation coverage in private health insurance plans varies by employer and/or plan. Smokers with this type of health insurance should contact their insurance plan for information on cessation benefits.
