FLU VACCINE SHORTAGE GUIDELINES… Last week’s vaccine shortage announcement means that only people at high risk from contracting complications from the flu are encouraged to get a flu shot this year. The Flu Vaccine Shortage Guidelines specificies just who qualifies as ‘high risk.’ Read our guidelines, then click here to send an email to someone you know fits those criteria. Tell them they can find a flu shot clinic near them on the Flu Shot Locator.
FLU SHOT LOCATOR – Online resource for people at high risk for complications from the flu... While the vaccine shortage has had a significant impact on the calendar of flu shot clinics planned for this fall, the Lung Association is dedicated to maintaining all clinic schedules promoted through our Flu Shot Locator site for people at risk for complications from the flu.
BEFORE YOU GO – The single most important thing to do before you visit a flu clinic this year... Call. Because of vaccine availability, clinic dates are changing daily. Call to confirm your clinic is being held. The Lung Association is dedicated to maintaining the Flu Shot Locator for all available clinics for people at high risk of complications from the flu.
TAKE ACTION! SUPPORT THE FLU PROTECTION ACT
The shortage of flu vaccine this year highlights the urgent need for a comprehensive response to influenza. The Lung Association supports passage of the Flu Protection Act of 2004. VACCINE OPTIONS FOR THOSE NOT AT RISK…For healthly people, aged 5-49, FluMist, the nasal vaccine released for the first time last flu season, is an option.
