Asthma

The American Lung Association of Mid-Ohio offeres Open Airways for Schools,a school-based program that educates children with asthma and empowers them to manage their asthma. Currently, Open Airways for Schools is available in over 130 schools in Franklin County. Smoking Cessation

Hypnosis:

Stop Smoking or Lose Weight through Hypnosis classes are held frequently throughout the Mid-Ohio area at the following locations: Columbus, Athens, Circleville, Delaware, Lancaster, Newark, and Washington Courthouse. Hypnosis is a heightened state of awareness which allows an individual to reach and maintain an acquired level of relaxation. The cost of the class is $40 which includes an audio cassette tape for home reinforcement and the option of returning to future sessions for a period of one year with no additional charge. Freedom From Smoking®:

Freedom From Smoking is a six-session program that uses a positive behavior change approach giving the smoker alternatives to smoking and helping the individual want to quit. For non-smokers interested in facilitating a FFS class, contact your local office for the dates of the next training session. A 1 1/2 day training is scheduled for August 21st and 22nd in Columbus. ALAMO has teamed up with The O.S.U. Medical Center to offer free classes on emphysema, lung volume reduction surgery and asthma. These classes, led by lung specialists, are offered at the ALAMO office on a quarterly basis.
