AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION OF MISSOURI LUNG DISEASE

TUBERCULOSIS, EMPHYSEMA, CHRONIC BRONCHITIS AND OTHER LUNG DISEASES

ALA maintains a strong leadership role in fighting adult lung disease through such projects as:

THE CALL CENTER

The Call Center is a telephone hotline staffed by medical experts who provide comprehensive information on lung diseases. The number is 1-800-548-8252.

BETTER BREATHERS CLUBS

Better Breathers Clubs are a network of support groups for patients with lung diseases and their families throughout Missouri. For more information, contact sking@alaem.org.

HIGH RISK PROJECT

Each year, ALAEM has participated in this project which focuses on a group in our community at risk for contracting and spreading TB. This program targets high risk groups within our region in an effort to educate them about the importance of detecting and treating tuberculosis infection and disease.

TB AWARENESS FORTNIGHT

This two-week period in March encompasses World TB Awareness Day (March 24) and is used to heighten awareness of TB in Missouri. The ALA of Missouri provides educational events focusing on tuberculosis for physicians, nurses and other health care providers.

For more information on specific diseases including lung cancer, emphysema, chronic obstruction pulmonary disease, bronchitis and tuberculosis see the Lung Diseases A to Z index.

To speak with someone in your area about lung health, contact the ALA of Missouri at 314-645-5505 or 1-800-LUNG-USA. Email us at: sking@alaem.org
