AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION OF EASTERN MISSOURI TOBACCO USE PREVENTION

ALAEM educates today's youth on the dangers of tobacco use and provides resources to teens and adults that have made the decision to quit smoking.

TOBACCO USE PREVENTION PROGRAMS

  • Teens Against Tobacco Use (TATU)-
a school based program that enables teens to create presentations that empower elementary age students with the tools to stay smoke free. In addition to peer mentoring, teens may also create advocacy campaigns in their area.

  • SMOKING CESSATION PROGRAMS

  • Not On Tobacco (N-O-T) -
a first rate teen smoking cessation program. N-O-T helps teens quit smoking or reduce cigarette use by providing a supportive group environment, education, stress management and life skills. Teens learn to evaluate when and why they smoke and to set obtainable goals.

  • Freedom From Smoking® -
a 7-week adult smoking cessation program offered at the American Lung Association of Eastern Missouri and various hospitals throughout the area. Freedom From Smoking® is a behavior modification group clinic providing the support needed to quit smoking. Through a partnership agreement with the American Lung Association, fees for Freedom From Smoking® classes are covered for insured members of Mercy Health Plans. Members may contact their Mercy Health Plans Representative for details of membership benefits. For a schedule of clinic sessions, call 1-800-LUNGUSA.

Being a not-for-profit organization, the American Lung Association of Eastern Missouri is able to offer EASE at a reasonable price to employers. EASE costs $100.00 per participant with a minimum of eight participants required. An EASE Awareness Session can be a great way to generate employee interest in smoking cessation!
