Lung diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer and pneumonia, are the third leading cause of death in America, responsible for one in seven deaths. Every half hour a child in New York City is hospitalized due to asthma; every day 3,000 young people start smoking in the U.S.; and every year 12,000 people in New York City alone die from tobacco related illness.

The American Lung Association of the City of New York provides programs throughout the five boroughs to help change these statistics and lives. Click on the programs below to learn more about how we improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers.
