Freedom From Smoking® Classes

If you'd like to quit smoking, the American Lung Association wants to help! Our Freedom From Smoking® clinics are offered every seven weeks at our office, 115 Talbot Avenue (off 4th St. behind the deli), in Santa Rosa. You'll learn:

  • Identify smoking behaviors.
  • Understand nicotine addiction.
  • Overcome barriers to quitting.
  • Develop your personal action plan.
  • Learn motivation techniques that will help you succeed.
  • How to stay smoke-free.
  • Groups meet once a week from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Classes are $85. Pre-registration required. Fee is reimbursed by most insurance plans.

    Better Breathers Club

    Do you have breathing difficulties?

    Confused about COPD?

    Would you like to meet other people who share your concerns?

    The American Lung Association offers free specialist-led support groups for individuals who suffer from breathing difficulties due to asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Meetings are held monthly and are open to individuals and their families interested in learning how to live better with breathing problems.

    Pulmonary Rehabilitation:
    A Team Approach to Improving Your Quality of Life

    Pulmonary rehab is a coordinated program of exercise, disease management training, and counseling that can help you stay more active and carry out your day-to-day activities. What is included in your pulmonary rehab program will depend on what you and your doctor think you need. It may include exercise training, nutrition advice, education about your disease and how to manage it, and counseling. The different parts of the rehab program are managed by different types of health care professionals (doctors, nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, exercise specialists, and dietitians) who work together to develop a program just for you.
